Starting on the interior

We have had some heavy rain over the past couple of days so we are very glad that the roof and the siding are completed to keep the weather out. There is still some outside work to do. The siding will be painted and the gutters and porch pillars will soon be installed. The areas on the front of the house where the Tyvek is still visible will be covered with stone work. Also we have a couple of air conditioning units that have been installed at the side of the house. A large one for the 1st floor and a smaller one for the bonus room above the garage. Also the shutters need to be added and of course the exterior lighting. There are no street lights here so it can be very dark at night. We've picked out some 'dusk til dawn' lights so we don't have to remember to turn them on ourselves every evening. (The older we get, the less we remember).The guys who are doing the sheetrock do their work standing on stilts - I'm sure if it was me I'd spend most of my time trying to keep my balance or picking myself up off the floor, but they just walk around like long-legged giants with no problem.

They have done the flat ceilings but have not yet started the cathedrals - of which there are 3 The Great room and the Master and 2nd bedroom. I think they will probably need scaffolding for the Great room at 17ft.
The sheetrock in the bathroom is almost done. The bathtub will eventually go by the windows.The bonus room is done and the next step will be 'mudding-in' (at least that's what I think they call it). Then after that it's painting, adding the moulding, floors and finishing. We're still hoping to be in by Christmas but I think it's going to be close. Maybe our builder will present us with the keys on Christmas eve and the house will have a big red bow around it.
